PHOTOS of the WEEK- Split Stingray and Last Dance

It's been a whirlwind both on the site and personally for the last couple of weeks, with record traffic on the Palm Springs Automobilist Facebook Page and a lot of travel to car shows and museums back in the Midwest. This week's Photo of the Week came from our "Ten Chevrolets of the Century" series and is a GM Factory photo of an iconic Split-Window '63 Sting Ray in front of the Theme Building at LAX. Both are sparkling new in the photo and represent the promise of the future, sixties style. I knew it was going to be the Photo of the Week, if not the whole year, and you guys proved me right. I want to live in the picture, that is all. Tell George Jetson I'll race him for pinkslips.

In second place this week is "Last Dance," a shot of a beautifully restored 1961 De Soto that I captured at a car show in the resort town of Saugatuck, Michigan. The car was resplendent in Bahama Bronze with a black top and a three toned black, white and grey interior. It was just delicious and the show attendees agreed, selecting it as Best of Show. Quite a way to make an exit, '61 De Soto.

Stop by the Palm Springs Automobilist Facebook Page for daily images and smart conversation with knowledgeable car enthusiasts from all over the globe. See you next week!

  1. I've never seen the Theme Building up close at LAX, but the last time I was at the airport I saw her from the terminal standing there dwarfed amongst the huge buildings and completely lost. How I wish I could have seen her as she appeared on the View Master reels my uncle sent me in the 60s
